Recently Collabr sponsored a cross-discipline collaboration contest in partnership with the University of Trinidad and Tobago. We talked with music producer Satesh Ramroop, who collaborated with Daniel Cedeno on a collaborative track which became a winning entry in this contest. Responses have been edited for clarity.

Team Collabr: How did you get started in your chosen artistic medium?

Satesh Ramroop: Hi, my name is Satesh Ramroop, I got started in Music at the age of seven when my mom started taking me for piano classes, even though I didn’t take it up to serious at that age I got back into it at the age of 18.

TC: Who are your biggest creative influences?

SR: My biggest inspiration in music that brought me back into music is the well known music producer and DJ Tim Bergling that goes by the stage name “Avicii” and who is well known for this hit single “Wake Me Up”

TC: How did you find your fellow collaborators for your winning entry, and how did you use the collabr app to work together?

SR: I first found this app when my lecture told us in class about it and a friend of mine and I

decided to work on a collaboration together using the app by producing an instrumental track

and uploading it.

TC: What’s the meaning or message behind your winning entry?

SR: The meaning behind us winning this prize means that we are on the right track and on to more collaboration in the future because, I believe that collaboration is what makes your content stand out better by having more creative minds behind it.

TC: How are you going to use your prize money?

SR: I plan on using my prize money by putting it back into music to help me go further with collaborations in the future.

TC: What was the most rewarding part of this whole experience for you?

SR: I think the most rewarding part was have the opportunity to win a competition for the first time ever in a collaboration relating to music.

TC: What are your artistic goals?

SR: My main goal is to become a good Music Producer and DJ at the end by not making money alone but by making music people will love. I also want everyone to know that collaboration is the key and if you don’t like collaboration you should start now because it is what I believe in and it is what I do to take a step further in my creativity!
